I don’t know much about this ship other than my old Mate, Dave Jewkes is the Chief Technical Officer. I also needed a place to put these amazing shots of a Starboard Motor change out that Dave sent me. To the mechanical minded these pictures are quite amazing.

What the hell happened to the bottom of the ship? We really were in the bottom of the bucket when we were at work down below.

And this amazing shot is 5 guys standing inside the stator. For the non mechanically minded the stator is the bit of a motor that stays still and the rotor is the bit that spins around inside where the guys are standing. That is one big f@#$ing motor. That’s Mr Jewkes 2nd from the left with the hard hat on.

Dave Jewkes has supplied some funny stuff resulting from an Aurora cruise that was cancelled in January due to technical problems and they became the butt of the local press, so much so that they made headline news and a couple of papers ran these jokes about them. I guess it wasn’t funny at the time but very funny in retrospect and as they say there’s no such thing as bad publicity. Thanks for sending them in Dave especially as, you pointed out yourself, it’s you they’re taking the piss out of.
