Built in 1949 by Barclay Cule & Co.

20.12.1948: Launched.

18.10.1949: Ran trials.

20.10.1949: Delivered. She was the second of two sisters – Cannanore was
completed three months earlier.

1960: Carried 187 buffalo as deck cargo on a voyage from Bangkok to
Hong Kong. All survived except one that jumped overboard and
drowned shortly before docking.

05.1960: Management and operation transferred to P&O-Orient Lines.

1966: Managers and operators restyled P&O Lines. Usual Voyages UK - Red Sea - India. - Pakistan - Ceylon. General Cargo out and Tea and Blood & Bone, Palm Oil homeward

19.11.1969: Sold to Jebshun Shipping Co. Ltd., Hong Kong and renamed Shun
Hing though London registry was retained.

1971: Registered at Singapore.

16.12.1971: Laid up at Manila.

26.06.1972: Driven ashore by typhoon Konsing.

08.07.1972: Refloated.

1973: Sold to Tsai Sei Co. Ltd., Somali Republic and renamed Hop Sing.

1973: Sold to Keun Man Steel and Iron Works, Taiwan, for demolition.

14.04.1973: Work commenced at Kaohsiung.
