Thanks
to Steve Stroud, the guy on the left who looks just like Omar Sharif, for
contacting me. We know that’s Andy Jackson being buried and TT’s in
the white shorts but Steve tells me the guy just behind Andy’s head is
JAG Lewis.
That’s
definitely John Hammond, possibly Charles Oxley, The hair and mo looks
like Steve Musson, possibly Geordie John saluting, don’t know who’s
standing o the far right and that’s possibly Blue who’s the only one
who obviously wore a mask.
Great
shot Mark and it’s good to see the old Swan lager tins. They bring back
some memories.
Above
is TT being his usual chivalrous self
carrying a poor defenceless WAP into a pour out. I think that’s Les
Diffey bending over getting his arse touched up. At the back with the
cheekiest grin you’ve ever seen is Dave
Jewkes with Glyn
Dodson looking rather chubby cheeked in the middle. Can someone name
the WAP please?
I’ve
been inundated with people emailing me to tell me that the unknown
participant is in fact Gavin Ash no
less. Thanks to Dave Jewkes, Dave Whitehand, Ian Settle and Paul Robinson.
Thanks also to Jewksie for telling me that’s not Paul Clasby in the
middle but Bunny Warren. So here’s the proper line up.
L-R:
Mick
Everson, Dave Oakes, Bunny
Warren, Gavin Ash, Dave
Whitehand.
Tug
of War on board the "O". There’s big Stuart Drew with the
ginger hair and beard in the background, Ken Willey (Deceased) at the
front and Dave Turner looking on. (thanks to Ian
Settle for supplying the names).
Rod
Drake recalls;
Just reminiscing through some of these old
photos and I remember the tug of war quite well. I think DT was beaming due to his engineers being supremely victorious, the line-up as I remember was Ken
Willey, Jim Barlow, Stuart Drew, myself in Groucho glasses and Jeff Talbot as
anchor. I think Jeff had the nickname 'V' body.

Here’s
the Deck against the Ginger Beers – Stuart Drew and Sheep Dip
involved plus others Mike can’t recall - (Dave Turner coaching!)

Now
this is the only explanation I got from Blackfoot "The group photo of
the Oriana Electricians is a good one for those who remember Big Llewy,
Martin Harris and I think the unknown is Jim ????. maybe Connors. Good
luck with the rest". But, the best I can do is;
L-R:
Charles
Oxley, Desmond John
Hughes (aka Big Llewy), Gavin Ash,
Martin Harris, Tom Douther, Pete Connors (aka
Jim Pete), Dave Whitehand, Roy Arnold, Bob Chambers.
Additional names
have been supplied
by Dave Oakes and Charlie Oxley. Thank you gentlemen.
Mark
Sawyer adds;
It's
John Hughes not Desmond Hughes, I sailed with him on the Arcadia in 76 with Stevie Musson. Me, him, Stevie and Ken all flew out to join here in Sydney, TB was the 2/El/O and I think it was a Jim O'Conner who was the 1/El/O....mad days.
Sometimes you
can't choose who you get to go on a run ashore with, here I am well and
truly lumbered! I bet you're feeling sorry for me already.

??
(WAP), Wendy ? (WAP), Yours truly (3/E/O by then I think), Angie "The
Ophthalmic Angel" ? (Nursing Sister)

The
meal was in a Japanese Restaurant where for the same price you can elect
to sit in a special booth and watch the chef cook your meal in front of
you.

Angie
? "The Ophthalmic Angel" (Nursing sister, she usually wore quite
large glasses hence the nickname, just realised she wasn't in the photos
so the nickname doesn't make a lot of sense), ?? "Clyde" and
