Memorabilia
This
is a section where you can display your items of Navy memorabilia. You may
wish to try and sell them here or just show them off. I'm hoping this
will become a trading post for all "Sea Stuff" from all over the
World. If you do wish to sell an item I'll post your price and have an email address for
people to
make you an offer.
One
full can of Foster's Lager farewelling Oriana.
A boxed commemorative naming plate for the
Royal Princess 1984.
Both
these items are available for sale. They belong to Tina Leahy and are located
in the UK. They are both in mint condition except the plate box has a
light dent in bottom.
P&O blazer badge made to order in Bombay India in late 1954 on my first voyage. From memory I think it cost about
£5 in those days, supplied and sown to blazer jacket. The gold plated wire is showing signs of distress, I guess to be expected as it is now 55 years old. The badge has outlived the blazer jacket though.
I used to work for
P&O Ferrymasters Warrington transport repair division from 1999 to
2002, I was searching for someone who might be interested in buying a 150 year
commemorative coin I came across at an auction a few years back, I hope you can
help.
Ste's
sure he has the box but can't find it at the moment so make Ste an offer
if you're interested.
I was with T&J
Harrison's (Liverpool) Blue Star - Larrinaga Steam Shipping Co - ex Conway Cadet 1965. I
have some stuff I want to sell - The Commander of The Queen Mary 2 is Ronald Warwick, he is also an
ex Conway Cadet. In 2004 I went to her launch in St Nazaire and followed her to Southampton on sea trials. I am the patron of an association that helps visually impaired musicians in Ireland. I have various documents and pictures given for me to sell by Captain Warwick, all original and signed in gold leaf by
him i.e. Photo of arrival in Southampton on sea trials Dec 26th 2003 signed in gold leaf - Inaugural Information Sheet Jan 9th 2004 (very rare) - Photo of her in Barbados docks signed in gold leaf - The very 1st ever Daily Programme (Captains Issue - signed and certified) absolutely unique can never be another. Daily Programme Jan 14th 2004 (Maiden voyage) - Daily Programme February 2nd 2004 anchored off San Juan - Letter from Cunard and Captain Warwick to myself in original envelope. The photos come without the Guinness beer mats - don't want them
copied. I also have the private phone number of the Commander to verify their authenticity.
In November 1984 Princess Diana helped celebrate the inaugural of the Royal Princess.
Above is the commemorative plate that was made for that occasion. It's beautiful Royal Daulton
bone china with gold trim and a nice inscription. I happen to have an extra one if anybody out there would like it.
All of these were collected as I visited with both P&O and Princess Cruises.
Spoons show: Pacific Princess, Alaska, Florida, Mexico, and one of the Endeavour, which is silver plated.
All of the items are for sale, as separate pieces, or as a set. Interested parties can contact me for further details.
This
is a Canberra Ladies Scarf which I bought during the late 70s. This item is for sale and I am open to offers for it. It has a little stain on it which I am hesitant to remove by washing as it could remove it's overall age. I served onboard during 1979, with Commodore Woolley and Staff Captain Philip Jackson, so this scarf could be a collectors item, even though it's now approximately 21 years old.
Belongs
to Sally Riordan, the daughter of Norman Owen (Deceased) who was Master at
Arms on Nevasa from the 60's to about 1974 which is when I joined.
Currently the plaque is NOT for sale but Sally has promised me first dibs
:)
In
1978 Oriana's props were changed to increase their efficiency. This is a
piece of one of the old props before being sold for scrap for £60k each
as they weighed 80 tonnes each.
We
say YET because the artwork has been sent to Malcolm Orr who knows someone
who does cheap T shirts and there's a chance we may soon be able to offer
these for sale through this website. Stay tuned!
This
is a soft pastel I created on murano textured paper of the Big O at Trondheim, 1979, when I was aboard. I've placed this picture also on
redbubble
where anyone who wants a copy can obtain one in different sizes, framed and unframed. This original is for sale and I won't refuse any reasonable offer along with postage and packing. It's size is 18.5 x 13 inches.
I called the piece "Thor's Realm"
This
wonderful gift looks absolutely brand new but it was actually purchased
from the Oriana gift shop by Kevin Timm's aunt for Kevin's mum in
1975.
It's
obviously never been used and she was about to throw it out but Kevin
rescued it and sent it to me knowing how much it would be revered and
treasured but even Kevin will never know just how much. It brought tears
to my eyes and I was overwhelmed with emotion when I opened it today.
Thank you so much Mr Timms and oh! by the way, it is most definitely NOT
FOR SALE!
Belongs
to Steve Borrill (formally Paul Robinson aka Blue or Blee) and is
definitely Not
for Sale
This
is an original water colour painting of our beloved Oriana painted by
"Primrose".
Paul
writes;
My sister gave
me this painting 20 years ago, she knows the artist, who gave it to her when she mentioned that I
sailed on the Oriana. I was having a re-organization of stored stuff and realised that the painting had been stored for over 10 years and that you could put it to better use.
